Obituary of Jean Teresa Markotjohn, New Waterford
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our loving sister, Jean Teresa Markotjohn, on June 19, 2024 at Waterford Heights in New Waterford.
She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Jennie (Gillis) Markotjohn.
She will be greatly missed by her two sisters, Kay, with whom she resided before entering Waterford Heights and Karen (Gerard Burke). Also left to mourn her passing are her nephews, Anthony (Allison), Peter and niece, Jenna (Mike), whom she adored; grandnephews, Jack and Jasper Burke; many cousins and her best friend, Verna Gillis, who was just like family.
Jean was a loving and affectionate person who thought everything was beautiful. She loved going for drives, eating out, and coloring and painting pictures and giving them out to those who were lucky enough to receive them. She also loved watching her favorite T.V. shows, ‘The Golden Girls’ and ‘Three’s Company’ as well as her favorite movie, ‘Cats’. Jean also very much enjoyed time ‘out on the Mira’ with friends and family. She was truly a blessing in all our lives.
A special thank-you to the staff and doctors at Waterford Heights for the exceptional care she received during her residency there.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25 from 9 – 9:45 a.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford with Funeral Mass to follow at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Godwin Obike officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes cemetery with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
