Obituary
Blades, Helen Ruth – 90, of Clark’s Harbour, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on October 16, 2024. Born on August 24, 1934 she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Flora (Atkinson) Ross.
Helen was an avid gardener and took great pride in her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved life and her family to the fullest. Her home cooking was always appreciated throughout out the neighbour hood when she felt there was a need or a helping hand. Helen was a faithful member of the United Baptist Stone Church. She enjoyed 45 Monday night card party. Helen was also a member of the church social club, church gardener, the Shelburne County garden club and the Town of Clark’s Harbour Heritage Committee. She was the original founder of the Town of Clark’s Harbour boardwalk barrel flowers.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Freddie; children, F. Bruce (Phyllis) Eileen (Randy), Ann (Allan), Jeanne (Roland) and daughter-in-law, Shirlene; sister, Jeanne Koopmans; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandsons. Besides her parents, Helen was predeceased by her son, Wallie; granddaughter, Kellie Ann; siblings Malcolm, Randall, Allen, Oliver and Evangeline.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20, from 7-9, at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 21, at 2:00 pm from the United Baptist Stone Church, Clark’s Harbour. Memorial donations may be made to the United Baptist Stone Church.
