Stoddard, Gertrude Maude – With heartfelt sadness, the family of Gertrude Maude Stoddard announces her passing on June 6, 2024 at Roseway Hospital with her loving family at her side. Born in Roseway on May 27, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Rome and Myrtle (Perry) Acker. Gertrude was known for her laughter and kind heart. She was the heart and soul of our family, she will be dearly missed. Gertrude loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her so much joy. She enjoyed music, dancing, knitting and a good game of cards, which she seldom lost. Gertrude loved cats. She is survived by her children, Catherine Brannen (Malcolm), Pam Prowse (Ernie), Graham Doane (Shelley), Terry Doane (Carla), Jeff Stoddard (Lorie) and Tammy Robertson (Greg); brother, Basil Acker (Shirley); 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Gertrude was predeceased by her 1st husband, Lloyd Doane, 2nd husband, Gerald Stoddard; siblings, Winston Acker, Elmer Acker and Marjorie Acker. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, from 6-8 pm at the H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral home, Barrington. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 9, at 11:00 am from the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
