Robert was proud to have served on the sailing ship Acadia and as the Second Steward on the Dawson. An interprovincial carpenter by trade. He was also a successful business owner, founding several small businesses over the years -most notably, Strait Area Pest Control, which he can for 32 years.
Robert’s commitment to his profession and community shone through with his volunteering as Recording Secretary and President of the Cape Breton Carpenter’s Union, through in his dedicated work as a coach and President of Arichat Minor Baseball and as a volunteer firefighter, for which he served over 25 years.
Anyone who knew Robert also knew he was a fun-loving friend and an avid boatsman. He loved a good game of 45 or crib, to catch up on the gossip of the day with the boys, to do crossword puzzles (without using a dictionary), and to fish many kinds of saltwater fish.
