It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear and devoted mother, mother in law, grandmother and great grandmother, Marie Nora Landry on August 10th 202. Mom is now at rest with dad, the love of her life.
Mom was daughter of the late Bertha Samson and Theophile Samson. She fought a very long and courageous battle with cancer.
Her faith and belief in god were her strength. She was a member of the CWL and Royal Canadian Legion Br. 150 Ladies Auxiliary. She worked at Booths Fisheries in her early years and then stayed home to raised their 5 children by herself as dad worked away on the oil tankers. She was a very kind, compassionate, loving, generous and caring mom/mother in law/grandmother and great grandmother. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and doing crafts. She was an amazing cook who had a passion for cooking, baking and sharing with everyone who walked through her doors. She loved preparing meals for family and friends. Her freezer was always full of prepared home cook meals to ensure she would be ready for when anyone dropped in to visit. She welcomed everyone in her home and would make sure no one would leave the house hungry. If they didn’t eat they had to leave with their next meal. When her children, grand & great grandchildren visited she always ensured they had supplies of rolls, meat pies and meals to enjoy until their next visit. She truly had a heart of gold.
She is survived by her daughters Debbie (Nap) Boudreau, Jean (Wendell) Day; her sons Douglas (Donna) Landry, Darryl (Darlene) Landry and Gerry Landry; her precious grandchildren Nathan (Amber), Brandon, Priscilla, Alyssha, (Cole), Jeric (Tasha), Dominique, Alex (Caitlin), Amber, Morgan and precious great grandchildren Reid, Leo and Frey’s. She is also survived by her sister Marie (Arthur) Samson; brothers Theophile (Lucille) Samson and Gerry (Linda) Samson; sister in law Valerie Landry and Claire Samson.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by her loving husband Alcide, her sister Delta; brother Eugene ; sisters in law Gladys Thibeau, Jeannette Landry; Mary Landry; Eileen Landry, Rita Landry, Edna Samson; brothers in law Martin, Lenus, Arthur, Vincent, Edward, Willie, Charles, Clarence Landry, Bernard Thibeau and Lawrence Samson. She was also predeceased by her in laws Minnie and Leo Landry.
There will be no visitation at the request of the deceased.
Cremation has taken place. A mass will take place at St. Joseph’s Church in Petit De Grat at a later date, followed by the burial at the Acadiaville Columbarium in West Arichat.
Memorial donations maybe made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #150 in Arichat or St. Anne’s Center Activity Fund.
