It is with sadness that we announce the
passing of Joseph Ronald Proulx, age 76,
of Amherst, formerly of Ontario. Ron passed away at his home
on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 with his best friend and loiving wife
of 27 years, Patricia “Pat” (Young) by his
side.
Born in Cobourg, Ontario, he was a son
of the late Emma Proulx.
Ron was a very proud father of Robert
Proulx (Michelle), Richard Proulx (Joy), Chantel Duncan (Sergio), and
Katherine King (Dave).
Ron was also a grandfather and Papa to
Ariah, Mikayla, Robbie, Hazel, Delia, Riley and Liam as well as great
grandfather to Norah and Colson.
Ron will be missed by his Nova Scotia
kids Brandon Burbine and Cassandra Barczyk.
Ron is also survived by his sister Luce
McNicol and is predeceased by brothers Yvonne, Lionel and brother in
law Bernard.
Ron worked at Eldorado/Cameco in Port
Hope for 31+ years where he met many great people and developed many
long lasting friendships; often referring to his co-workers as
brothers and sisters.
Ron’s passion was cars and
motorcycles. He spent many hours in his garage detailing
cars and motorcycles for his buddies and their families. Ron
wasn’t happy unless he could get a vehicle or motorcycle to
shine.
Ron was a social butterfly and always
found it easy to meet new people and take time to chat whether it be
his neighbours, at his part-time job or at the corner
store.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of the Jones Family Funeral
Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777),
where his cremation will take place. A celebration of life
will be held for Ron at a later date to be announced in
Ontario.
Ron’s family wants to extend a special
thanks to Palliative Care Nurse Amy Thurston MN RN-AP and Doctor
Short. Your caring and compassion has been a godsend during
this difficult time. Thank you also to the many VON nurses,
Susan and Marilyn from Hospice for your kindness and
support. We could not have gotten through this without the
help of so many.
In lieu of flowers, Ron asked that
everyone perform an act of kindness in his memory.
