Obituary of Warren Hayes
The death of Delbert Warren Hayes occurred at the Sus Health Centre on July 4, 2024. He was eldest child of Connie (Mason) Hayes and the late Delbert Hayes.
Warren was a 1970 graduate of Sus Composite High School and furthered his studies in accounting at NBCC. In 1998, he graduated with honors from the Bachelor of Business Administration Program of Acadia University.
He worked in accounting most of his life beginning with the Bank of Nova Scotia in Saint John, Grand Manan and Fredericton. He moved west for a number of years and relocated to Nova Scotia and worked for a number of organizations prior to attending Acadia University from 1994-1998. Upon graduation, he was employed at Carleton Manor in Woodstock, NB prior to relocating to the Sus area.
Warren enjoyed music, photography, playing back gammon, washer toss and crokinole, walking at the Civic Centre and barbequing. In the 80’s he was a member of the Canadian Disabled Skiers Association for the province of Alberta and was training for the Canadian Olympics when he broke his arm in a skiing accident. Warren attended church at Sus Baptist Church and Brown’s Flat Fellowship during the summers while at the cottage at Beulah Camp. He was baptized at Beulah Beach on August 20, 2017. He spent countless hours at the Kingswood Library using the computer and interacting with many of the students. Warren was a member of the Fundy Silverados Friendship Club and served as treasurer for a number of years. He also enjoyed volunteering for the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle campaign.
He is survived by of his mother, Connie Hayes of Carsonville; wife, Arletta Long Hayes of Sus; siblings: Debbie Benson (Tony) of Smiths Creek; Sharon Townsend (Blair Drake) of Fredericton; Everett (Dale) of Carsonville; Thelma Folkins (Cecil) of Mount Middleton; Heather Dalling (Gregg) of Chambers Settlement; David (Erin) of Apohaqui, sister-in-law Connie McGinnis-Hayes of Southfield; Sons: Tony (Bernice) of Toronto, Kevin (Tammy McGregor) of Texas, and Matthew McMinniman of Toronto; Step-Sons: Jared (Missy) Simpson of Walker Settlement, Peter (Donica) Simpson of Shilo, Manitoba; Grandchildren: Taylor, Alexandra, Jordan, Talia, Cruz, Jagg, Austin, Nicholas and Griffin McMinniman; Step-Grandchildren: Brooklyn, Paige and Ricky; Great-Grandchildren Oliver McMinniman, Dawson Therrien-Besito and Lyla-Rain McMinniman. He was also survived by his aunt, Ann Smit and uncles John and Fred (Shirley) Mason and Rev. Doug Cosman, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his father, Warren was predeceased by his brother Danny, sisters Valerie (infant) and Jean, his paternal grandparents Warren and Iola (Boyd) Hayes and maternal grandparents Joe and Bernice (Kelly) Mason and granddaughter Gabriella McMinniman.

At Warren’s request all arrangements will be held privately. Memorials may be made to Salvation Army Kettle Campaign, or charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through Wallace Funeral Home.
