Obituary of Bonnie Hay-Robertson
Bonnie Lee Robertson was a registered nurse who had a gift for serving others.
Bonnie passed away on December 27, 2023, at Sus, NB
Bonnie was born on February 05, 1946, to the late Pauline (Anderson) Hay and William John Charles Hay. Bonnie is predeceased by her husband, Harold Albert Robertson and her brother, William Stewart Hay. She is survived by two brothers: Bob (Wendy) Hay of Fredericton; their children and grandchildren and John David Hay.
Bonnie attended Saint John School of Nursing, Public Health Nursing at Dalhousie, BSCN from Ryerson University and her CCM from the University of Toronto.
For most of her career she worked in Toronto maintaining long term and continued friendship with her Special friends: Margie Anderson – Grade 1-12 and ongoing, Carol Wortman – Nursing School 1963 and onward. Bonnie nursed as Outpost Nurse in Baker Lake, NWT, Calgary, London, England, Baghdad, Iraq.
Following the death of her husband in Saint John; Bonnie returned to her roots in Sus where she joined Sus Golf and Curling Club, Book Club, Naturalist Club, Women’s Network and joined her friends for card parties.
Bonnie’s venture in life included her love of travelling. Trips included San Francisco, New York, Florida, Los Angeles, Mediterranean, Mexico, Europe, San Diego and walking the Great Wall of China.
Bonnie spent the years she was given living: she enjoyed snowmobiling, skiing, camping, card games and her games of golf. Everyone will remember her laugh and the many stores she told.
Those of us who were fortunate enough to be her friend have lost a truly special person that many of us loved dearly.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sus, N.B. (506-433-1176) from where a Celebration of Bonnie’s Life will be held January 4, 2024 at 11 am.
Bonnie has requested donations in her memory be made to S.O.S. Strays of Sus or to the charity of donor’s choice.
