Lois B. (McConvey) Puig passed away at the Charlotte County
Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B. on Wednesday, December 4,
2024.
Lois was born in 1924 in St Stephen, N.B., daughter of the
late George and Carrie (Smith) McConvey. She was the youngest of eight
children and was predeceased by her parents, twin brothers, who died
at birth, seven siblings, John Walter, Georgie, Grace, Millie, Marg
and Glenna.
Lois joined the Canadian Air Force during World War II, after
which she married Ernest Puig of New York. They divorced in
1950.
She worked in Ganong’s Candy Factory, Elm Lodge
Nursing Home and Charlotte County Hospital from where she retired in
1989.
Lois was a strikingly beautiful woman with an inexhaustible
source of energy even at the age of 100! She had a love for clothes,
her dogs and cats and her family, but most of all her Lord Jesus
Christ.
She loved to go shopping, out to eat at Carman’s
and take rides to St Andrews and the Nature Park with her daughter to
see the occasional deer. They went everywhere together and were best
friends as well as Mother and Daughter.
Lois had the sharpest memory of anyone half her age and loved
to watch Trump on Fox. She was very loving and she would give you the
“shirt off her back”. She will be sadly missed by her family
and friends.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Sherry Hill and her
husband Steve of Calais, Maine, granddaughter, Tari of Washington,
Maine, grandson, James Hill and his wife, Sheila of Meddybemps, Maine,
great-grandchildren, Kevin Moholland and his wife Kaitlyn of
Washington, Maine, Nicholas Holmes of Calais, Maine and Dustin Goodwin
of Baileyville, Maine, great-great-grandson, Christopher Moholland of
Washington, Maine. She is also survived by her nieces, Donna Swim and
her husband Greg of McAdam, N.B., Myrna McConvey of St Stephen, N.B.
and family friend, Helen Huvley, several great nieces and
nephews.
A graveside service will be held in the spring of 2025 at the
St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St Stephen, N.B. Date and time will be
published when available.
A special thanks to the nurses at the Charlotte County
Hospital 1st floor and to the sweet nurses in
the CCU who went above and beyond making my mother comfortable,
especially Jessica who held my mother’s hand when I was not
there. Also a special thank you to Myrna and Helen who were with mom
and I the last two days she was in the hospital.
