Yvette Mary Maillet
1936-2024
The passing of Yvette Mary (Ferguson) Maillet, beloved wife
of the late Evans J. Maillet SR occurred at the Passamaquaddy Lodge,
St. Andrews NB on February 2, 2024. Born at Newcastle NB on March 21,
1936, she was a daughter of the late Severa and Marie (Babineau)
Ferguson.
A loving mother and
grandmother, she is survived by her sons: Alex (Sally) Maillet of
Utopia NB and David Maillet of Blacks Harbour NB, her
daughters: Mary (Keith) Womba of St. Andrews NB, Rita Leavitt of St.
George NB, Helen Maillet of St. Andrews NB, Emma Maillet
(Dean LeBlanc) of Utopia NB and Elaine Buchanan of St.
Andrews NB, 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great
great granddaughter as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In
addition to her parents and her beloved Evans Sr, she was predeceased
by her son Evans Maillet Jr, her sisters: Edith, Ellen and Alma and
her brother; Alex.
Prior to her retirement,
Yvette worked for several years for Connors Brothers in Blacks Harbour
as well as a homemaker raising her large family. She was an avid bingo
player and in her quiet time, loved crocheting as well as making magic
in the kitchen with her meat pies, bread and delicious
rolls.
Yvette had a love for music and playing
guitar as well, and when she was able, looked forward to making music
at the Stella Maris Jams. She was the last surviving member of her
immediate family and will be missed by her family, friends and all who
knew her.
Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 2pm from Stella Maris
Roman Catholic Church in Blacks Harbour NB with Father Abelardo
Sobredo officiating followed by interment in the church cemetery.
There will be no visiting. In Yvette’s memory, donations to
the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of the donors choice
would be appreciated by the family.
