Heather Anne Hatt
1949-2024
The passing of Heather Anne (Justason) Hatt, wife of the late
Douglas Murray Hatt of Back Bay NB occurred at the Saint John Regional
Hospital, Saint John NB on May 22, 2024. Born in Blacks Harbour NB on
September 14, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen
(Mennie) Justason.
A loving mother and grandmother, Heather is survived by her
two sons: Jason Hatt (Mary Anne Theriault) of Back Bay NB and Justin
Hatt of Australia, her grandchildren: Wesley Hatt and Irene Hatt; and
several cousins.
Prior to retirement, Heather worked over 35 years for Connors
Brothers in Blacks Harbour. A strong presence and advocate for her
community, Heather devoted her time to many local community boards and
projects. She was a past president of the Harbour Lights Seniors
Association, the co-chair of the Fundy Bay Local Service District and
more recently was a member of the Southwest NB Regional Service
Commission. In her spare time, Heather enjoyed knitting, reading and
being with her grandchildren. Always on the go, Heather loved
traveling and trying new restaurants every chance she had. Lately, she
found great joy in reconnecting with her cousins who she cherished and
loved immensely. Heather’s sense of humor, wit and devotion
to her community will be missed by all who knew her.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home
(506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the
Funeral Home with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The service
will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday at 2:00 pm with Rev.
Natasha Pearen officiating followed by the interment in the St. George
Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Heather’s
memory may be made to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to
the Diabetes Association.
