Father Normand
Drisdelle, 84, of Haute-Aboujagane, passed away surrounded by his
loving family, on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at the Dr Georges-L. Dumont
UHC. Born in Haute-Aboujagane, he was the son of the late
Saül Drisdelle and Edna Bourgeois.
He studied at
St-Joseph University and Collège l’Assomption in 1961 and
at St-Cœur-de-Marie Seminary, Halifax in 1965. The
ordination was celebrated on June 12, 1965, in Haute-Aboujagane by
Mgr. Norbert Robichaud. He would have celebrated his 59th anniversary
of priestly life on June 12 of this year.
He was vicar at the
Cathedral (1965-1966), Baie Ste-Anne (1966-1967), Richiboucto
(1965-1971), Dieppe (1971-1978), Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (1977);
parish priest at Pointe-du-Chêne (1978-1980), Irishtown
(1980-1985), St-Pierre, Cocagne (1985-1992). He was parish priest at
Pointe-du-Chêne, and chaplain at Villa Providence Shediac,
St-Louis-des-Français, St-Louis, St-Ignace (1997),
Pointe-Sapin (1998-2000), Baie Ste -Anne, Escuminac; moderator priest
in St-Louis-des-Français, St-Louis, Pointe-Sapin,
St-Ignace, Baie Ste-Anne, Escuminac (2000-2004), Memramcook,
Pré-d’en-Haut and Lourdes (2004-2014).
He leaves to mourn his
brothers and sisters: Elva Boudreau (Mélas) of
Haute-Aboujagane, Euclide (Angela) of Shediac, Oliva Prud’homme (late
Jean-Guy) of Valleyfield QC, and Ola (Florence) of Haute-Aboujagane as
well twelve nephews and nieces, two of whom are
deceased.
Families will receive
condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Center, 396, rue
Main, on Sunday, June 9, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9
p.m., Monday, June 10, at Sacré-Cœur Church,
Haute-Aboujagane from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. followed by funeral
services at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Notre-Dame-du-Calvaire
cemetery in Dieppe.
In memory of Father
Normand Drisdelle, a donation to the Oncology Center of the CHU Dumont
or to the cemetery of the Sacré-Cœur parish of
Haute-Aboujagane would be appreciated.
The funeral mass will be videotaped, and the video will be
available on Father Normand Drisdelle’s obituary on our
website by the end of the day.
