Peter Crosby
1946-2024
Peter Mack Wilmot Crosby, 78, passed on at the Moncton
Hospital on Aug 18th. He was the oldest of the five children of Dane
F. & Margaret {Mack} Crosby. Peter carried on his
father’s vocation as a newspaperman, beginning at the
Moncton Times and Transcript in 1968, and later working for papers in
Saint John, Fredericton, Calgary and Didsbury AB., covering news
events, sports, and writing a column called Pete Picks ‘Em on Harness
racing. Peter had an amazing memory, with so much detail on everything
from sports and popular music, to the stories he covered as a
reporter. He was a great storyteller, and a whiz at mental
arithmetic. A real people person, he talked to everyone,
knew most of the Transpo bus drivers by name, and was known around
town for playing often unusual songs on jukeboxes. He was
always positive, kind, loved to laugh and dance!
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Wendy
McConnell and is survived by his brother, Jonathan Crosby [Avonelle]
of Salisbury; his sisters, Karen Crosby of Calgary, Peggy Jackson
[Doug] of Mazeppa AB; his children, Anna Wilson (Dave) of Medicine
Hat, AB and Nathan Crosby of Brooks, AB.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury
Funeral Home, 506-372-4800. A Celebration of Peter’s life will be held
on August 28th from 3pm to 5pm at the Chris Rock Tavern, Albert St.
Moncton.
If desired contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation
would be appreciated by his family.
