Edna Blakney
1951-2024
Edna Blakney, 72, of Salisbury passed away peacefully on
March 1st, 2024 at the Moncton Hospital holding her granddaughter
Mia’s hand as she slipped away. She was born in Havelock on
May 5th, 1951 the daughter of the late Harry and Flora
(Campbell) Thorne.
Edna’s life was her family. She married Gerry and
together they started their family. Her boys were her
everything and she was always there for them as they were growing
up. Even when they were trying her patience at times they
knew she would always be on their side and have
their backs. Then the boys started families of
their own. The grandchildren were Edna’s pride and
joy. They made her heart full. She
enjoyed taking the girls, Mia and Charli shopping and always going a
little over budget. She just wanted all her grandchildren to
have whatever they wanted and was known to spoil them. She
would watch them play sports and was the loudest cheerleader
in the stands. Her grandson, Dylan, raced his
motorcycle, even if she held her breath as he rode, she would cheer
him on. She and Gerry enjoyed times at the
campground with family. Having fun times and always a lot of
laughter, Edna was always game for anything and had a great sense of
humour. “You will live on in our hearts
forever”
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Gerry Blakney; her
boys, Daryl Blakney (Amanda) and Terry Blakney (Kristy) both
of Boundary Creek; her treasured grandchildren, Mia, Dylan
and Charli; her sister-in-law Barbara Thorne and several nieces and
nephews. Besides her parents Edna was predeceased by her brother
Johnny.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury
Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106 (506-372-4800) where family will receive
relatives and friends Wednesday, March 6 from 6 pm – 8 pm.
Private graveside service in Five Points Cemetery at a later
date.
If desired, donations to Diabetes Canada, Cancer Society or
charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.

A Cherished
Mother and Grandmother
A cherished Mother and
Grandmother
You are and
were…and will forever be
You loved us throughout a
lifetime
And we’ll love
through eternity
As children, you were our
Mom and our strength
The force upon which we
relied
You helped us grow through
life’s laughter and tears
And you always stood by
our side
You were so strong and
worked so hard
To take good care of
us
Hours
spent….such time we can’t
comprehend!
Proved your faithful
devotion to us
And when we brought our
children home
Your commitment only
grew
You helped them, played
with them, and loved them
As only a Grandmother can
do
And our
children…they came to adore you!
For you spoiled them with
such love and affection
You treasured each one in
such special ways
There are too many
examples to mention
And though you were denied
more days and years
With a Grandmother as
wonderful as you
You’ve filled
their hearts with sweet memories
That’ll remain a
whole lifetime through
Dearest Mother and
Grandmother, we love you!
We find we cannot do
enough
To express the depths of
our gratitude
For your sacrifice and
your love
But trust that
you’ll be remembered
In sweetest memories each
day
For you have blessed our
lives forever
Through your
goodness, love and strength!
