Arthur Keith
1939-2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Arthur
Rufus Keith, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, on November
6, 2024, at the age of 85. Born to the late Winston and Bernice
(Black) Keith, Art was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elsie, with
whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership.
Art was a hardworking man who built his career in
construction, eventually establishing his own company—a
testament to his dedication and skill. His true passion, however, was
found in the quiet beauty of his woodlots. Art spent countless hours
there, working among the trees he loved, milling lumber, and taking
joy in nature’s rhythms.
Art served 14+ years in the Canadian Armed Forces Primary
Reserve with B Squadron, the 8th Canadian
Hussars (PL), retiring as a Warrant Officer. A highlight for
him was being an Honour Guard at Princess Anne and Mark
Phillips’ wedding at Westminster Abey in London in
1973.
Art will be deeply missed by his daughters, Delores (Perry)
Thorbourne of Widewater, AB, Ellen of Sus, NB, and son Calvin
(Jeannie) of Bloomfield, NB. He is also survived by his brothers
Malcolm (Shirley) and Rob (Denise), his sister Eileen Nash, as well as
nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Art was predeceased
by his son Jim, brothers Reginald, Ralph, and Connel, and sisters
Pauline Steeves and Ann Dunham.
Art’s memory will live on in the hearts of his
family and friends, who will forever cherish his wisdom, work ethic,
and gentle spirit. His legacy of hard work, love for family, and
respect for the land he tended will be carried on by those he leaves
behind.
The family would like to thank the staff in the Heart
Function Clinic at the Moncton City Hospital for their wonderful care
over the past few years.
A service to celebrate Art’s life will be held on
Saturday, November 9th from 2 pm to 4 pm at the
Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106, Salisbury West
(506-372-4800).
If desired, donations can be made to Heart & Stroke
Foundation or a charity of your choice.
