Sharon Ann Small Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of Sharon Ann Small announces her passing, which occurred December 4, 2023, at Bobby’s Hospice. Sharon fought a valiant battle with cancer over the past two years with an incredible level of faith, strength, courage, grace and determination.
Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, May 14, 1970, she was the daughter of Glendon and Geraldine (Grant) Small. In addition to her parents, Sharon is survived by her devoted partner, Murray McAuley, brothers, Stephen (Krista) Small, Ray (Leona) Small, sister, Lisa (John) Hagell, niece, Linda (Jonathan) Gillis, nephews, Bradley and Sheldon Small, as well as several dear aunts, uncles and cousins.
After graduating from Modern Business College, Sharon worked as a medical secretary for several years, only to realize her true passion was caring directly for patients, so she changed career paths and devoted 19 years to being a personal support worker, offering care to clients requiring in-home palliative, hospital and hospice care.
Sharon enjoyed movies, music, dancing, travelling, crafts and cooking. She especially loved the holidays, with Christmas being her favourite. Above all, it was Sharon’s love of family, friends and her fur-baby, Spike the cat, that gave her life the most meaning and joy.
Sharon’s family wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers, staff, nurses and doctors in the Palliative Care and Oncology unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital and Bobby’s Hospice. We are forever grateful for the exceptional level of care and compassion shown by Dr. Love from Palliative Care, Amelia and Connie from Integrity Home Health Services, Krista and Maggie from Extra-Mural, and Patty Murphy, Sharon’s dear friend.
In keeping with Sharon’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care of Fundy Funeral Home. A private family internment will take place at a later date.
In Sharon’s memory, donations can be made to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue, Canadian Cancer Society or charity of donor’s choice.
We love you Sharon, you will be dearly missed. Until we see you again in heaven, we will see you in our dreams, meet you at the swings.
