1937-2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Stevenson, age 86 years, of Dieppe, NB. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by love in the palliative care unit of the Moncton Hospital on November 29, 2023 following a sudden illness. He was born on March 18, 1937 to Gordon and Lillian Stevenson in Saint John, NB.
Bob was a skilled plumber and he continued his training to receive his master plumber certification and pipe and gas fitter journeyman trade certificates. He then moved on to work as an industrial plumber and pipefitter and made many great friendships while working. He was a proud retiree of UA local 325. He loved his family, the Blue Jays, puzzles, and chocolate; not necessarily in that order.
In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, Vera (Tonge-Melanson) he leaves behind his daughter Brenda Chamberlain (Brian) and son Rob Stevenson (Brigitte Mahoney). Also mourning his passing are his grandchildren Alex, Christopher (Jen) and Ashley Melanson, and Jennifer (Craig) and Travis (Alysha) Stevenson; great-grandchildren Norah Melanson, Jamie Lee and Kohen Stevenson; and former daughter-in-law Kathy Stevenson.
He will also be greatly missed by his sister Elizabeth Brown (Jack), brothers John (late Beverly) and Brian (Dale) Stevenson, sisters-in-law Arlene and Karen Stevenson and many treasured nieces, nephews and friends. From a young age, Moni always referred to him as “Daddy Bob”.
He is welcomed into heaven by his parents, son Terrance Melanson (Debbie Vanbuskirk), grandson Dana Chamberlain and brothers Gordon and Patrick Stevenson.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Moncton Hospital ICU and Palliative Care units for their professionalism, compassion and wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.
Bob, you are forever loved and missed.
Funeral services are in the care of Fundy Funeral Home in Saint John, NB. Visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023 beginning at 11 AM until the funeral service at 1PM in the Fundy Chapel.
