Norma Love Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Norma Marie (Hickman) Love announces her unexpected passing on December 22, 2023, at Saint John, NB. Born in Saint John, NB, on May 21, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Nettie (Craft) Hickman.
Norma was born and grew up in the North End and always considered it to be her home. Although she lived in other neighbourhoods throughout the city, she returned to the North End several years ago and passed away peacefully in the same home she was born in, where she lived near her very special nephew Brant (Yvonne) Hickman. She witnessed many changes to the North End over the years but she still saw the beauty of the neighbourhood and loved talking about her days skating on Marble Cove and how she knew everyone on Kennedy Street. After attending Saint John Vocational School, Norma took a job with the Bank of Nova Scotia, where she worked until her retirement. She loved spending time with her family and friends, baking and cooking and maintaining her home. Until recently, she spent her summers in St. Andrews and made many friends there. She was devoted to her dogs and treated them like her children. You could not visit her without being offered her homemade food, which is how she showed her love.
She is survived by her loving son, Donald (Heather) Love; loving daughter, Krista (Jeff Kaiser) Love; 3 adored grandchildren, Nicholas Love, and Sofia and Matthew Kaiser; sisters, Barb (George) Nixon, and Charlotte Hickman; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including special friends, Isabella Miller and Jan Morrison; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Scott, Betty Hickman and Joan Hickman.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her five brothers, Francis (Lana), Raymond, Don, Lloyd and Jimmy (Joan) as well as her sisters, Shirley (Bruce) Peacock, Elsie (Robert) Craft, and Winnie (Frank) Goguen; the father of her children, Donald Love and her former spouse, Gordon Bond.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB, (506-646-2424) where visitation will take place from 11am-1pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, with a funeral service to follow in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 1:30pm. A private family interment will be held at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations made in her memory to the Saint John SPCA would be appreciated by her family.
