Joan Spragg Obituary
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Joan Irene (Payne) Spragg, which occurred on Wednesday, August 21st, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on September 12th, 1940, in Saint John, she is the daughter of the late Donald and Mary (Sherwood) Payne. Joan loved shopping, reading and watching sports, especially skating, hockey and baseball. Her favorite baseball team was the Toronto Blue Jays. Family was most important to her and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Joan is survived by her loving and devoted husband James “Jimmy” of 62 years; daughters Deborah Fulton (Anthony) of Moncton. Marilyn Landry of Saint John; brother Donald Payne of Saint John; sister Gladys Flowers (Douglas) of Grand Bay-Westfield; granddaughter Kristina and great- granddaughter Makayla; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Along with her parents, Joan was predeceased by her brother James and sisters Audrey and Sandra.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) with visitation being held on Monday, August 26th from 12 to 2 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the chapel beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Donations in memory of Joan may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
