David Hachey Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of David Joseph Hachey announces his passing at his home, lovingly surrounded by his children and grandchildren, on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024. Born on February 26th, 1943, in Saint John, New Brunswick, David is the son of the late Alec and Genevieve Hachey. David retired at the age of 65 from Clow Canada where he worked for 40 years. During his retirement years, he enjoyed playing cards, listening to classic country music, and camping and golfing at TNT during the summer. David is best known for his humor and strong spirit despite losing his right leg in a train accident at the age of four. It brought him great joy to bring laughter to others and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. David especially loved to play cribbage and listen to his favorite Country singer, George Jones.
David is survived by his sons Joey Hachey, Randy (Mona) Hachey, Jamie (Tracy) Hachey, and Jason Green, his daughters Tracy (Joe) Brackett and Chrissy (Jean Guy) Lemay, grandchildren Daniel, Allison, Vanessa, Daryl, Annabelle, and Jean Michel, and several brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Along with his parents, David was predeceased by his first and second wives, Carolyn and Susan Hachey, along with some of his seventeen brothers and sisters.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) with a reception to celebrate his life and honor his memory on Friday, January 5th from 6 – 8 PM. Donations, in lieu of flowers, in memory of David may be made to the ALS Society of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia or the Canadian Cancer Society.
