Bendt Carstensen 1946-2024
Passed away at home after a period of failing health. Born in Aalborg, Denmark to Gunnor & Grethe (Hansen) Carstensen.
The family immigrated to Canada then to New Zealand, where he met his first wife Lorraine. They immigrated back to Canada after his boys were born.
He was a machinist by trade. Working for Irving Oil and Forgie Precision from where he retired.
He was an avid golfer, stamp collector, music enthusiasts and trivia buff. In his younger years he enjoyed playing sports including basketball, fastball (baseball), track & field. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and dabbling in cars.
Predeceased by 2nd wife Catherine (Stewart) and eldest son Dean & brother Tim.
Survived by Lorraine (Cooper) Gordon Willett, brother in New Zealand, John (Meipy) Carstensen,
Son Allan (Karyn), Stepdaughter Elizabeth (Donald) Fitzpatrick.
Grandchildren Shane, Nicholas, Autumn, Alaina, Aidan, Krista, Kimberly, Matthew, Tyler. 6 Great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren. Special friend Courtney Cameron.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). Per his request there will be no funeral or visitation. Private internment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Bendt may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
