Rigby, Barrie Alan
It is with great sadness the family of Barrie Alan Rigby announce his passing after a brief illness on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in the Saint John Regional Hospital, at the age of 82. A godly man of great integrity who will be dearly missed by family and friends.
A loving husband to his wife of 58 years, Margaret (Peggy), and devoted father to his daughters Janette (Troy) Dennis, Jill (Dana) Cleveland, Becky (Shaun) Stanwood and predeceased son, Bruce. He was very proud of his 8 grandchildren, Ian, Mark, Jason, Lily, Sam, Amelia, Josh and Megan.
Barrie was born to Carle and Lily Rigby on September 3, 1941. He was the second youngest of 8 children. Predeceased by 3 half sisters Connie, Helen and Shirley, 3 half brothers Carle Jr., Robert and Bill and younger brother, Michael. He was a graduate of the University of New Brunswick, where he did a BSc in Biology. In 1965 he started teaching at Simonds High School and was a proud Seabee for 32 years.
A devoted Christian, Barrie faithfully served at Edith Avenue Baptist Church for over 60 years as a choir member, soloist, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, and deacon.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors at the Saint John Regional Hospital Cardiac Unit for their excellent care.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 220 Westmorland Road, visitation will be on Friday July 19, 2-4 & 6-8. Service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 1pm. Rev. Mark Leary officiating. It will be live streamed for public viewing. Private burial later.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made Crandall University or Acadia Divinity College.
