Obituary of Barbara Ann Richards
It is with profound sadness that the family of Barbara Ann (McQueen) Richards announce her passing which occurred on December 22, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on September 27, 1938, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Logan) McQueen.
Barbara always enjoyed getting dolled up and going to dances at the Legion with her late husband, Stan. It didn’t matter what Barb was doing, she always had her nails and makeup done. Barb was a spitfire, she never had a problem voicing her opinions, but she had a big heart and her family meant the world to her. Barb will be greatly missed.
Barbara is survived by her son, Shawn Gilbert (Teresa); step-sons, Jeff Richards (Christina) and Dwight Richards (Cindy); daughter-in-law, Nancy Armstrong; grandchildren, Allcia, Andrew, Braeden (Lindsay), Gemma, Alysha (Dennis), Jason (Courtney), Lauren, Christa, Julie, Erin and Dillan; sister-in-law, Gwen Murphy and brother-in-law, Art Donald; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her three sons, Kevin Gilbert, Stephen Gilbert and Robert Gilbert and sisters, Cheryl Donald and Mary Levesque.
Barbara’s family would like to thank the staff of Serenity Cove Special Care Home for making Barb feel right at home in her last days. A special thank you to Jackie for keeping her company on her restless nights.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) where all services will be held privately.
