It is with great sadness the family of Alice Smith announces her passing on Saturday, September 30th, 2023 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Alice was born March 2, 1936 in Canso, NS to her late parents Hazel (worth) and Leo Flavin. She will be deeply missed by her Children, Bernie Smith (Carol), Murray Smith, Kevin Smith (Billie-Jo), Allan Smith, Mary Smith (Denis), Kaye Sceles (Ricky) Elizabeth Chase (Wayne), Heather Thompson (Eugene), Heidi Angelopoulos (George) and the late Patrick (Darlene) Smith. Alice is survived by her Siblings Sheila, Mary, Dorothy, and Shirley and pre- deceased by her late siblings, Eileen, Kaye, Kenny, Bernie, Brian,and the love of her life George Saunders. Alice also leaves behind her beloved Kitty, Baby Boy (snowball). Alice was a proud Grandmother and great-Grandmother to her many grandchildren who she loved and adored dearly.
Alice loved to cook and was a very accomplished baker. Her Christmas pies and Date squares will be missed not only by her 10 children but also by the many children she took into her home over the years in times of need. When Alice wasn’t busy taking care of everyone she could be found enjoying listening to Country music, watching the birds from her window, building a challenging puzzle or taking in the smell of her favorite flower, lilacs. Alice was always sure to have a quick remark and a tough take no bull attitude. At Alice’s request cremation has taken place and a private family service to be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fundy Funeral Home. In remembrance of Alice any donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation or charity of donor’s choice.
