It is with sadness that we announce the
passing of Raymond Roscoe Duncan, 89, of
Sackville, peacefully at the Drew Nursing Home on Monday, September
23, 2024. Born in Rockport, NB, Raymond was a son of the
late Edwin and Madge (Goodwin) Duncan.
Raymond worked as a painter at
Enterprise Foundry, later moving on to Fawcett Foundry until its
closure and then finishing out his career at Maloney Electric. In his
earlier years, he had a passion for going out onto the marsh to pick
greens and mushrooms and snaring rabbits in the winter
months. He and his wife Judy also enjoyed taking drives
through Rockport, the High Marsh Road, and sitting in town chatting
with friends. Raymond loved to joke and act the fool and
always had a smile. He was a proud Papa to Sarah and
Rebecca.
Raymond will be dearly missed by his
sons, Darren Duncan (Crystal), Lutes Mountain, NB and Raymond Duncan
Jr., ON; a special daughter, Hedy Dobson (Rodney); his sisters, Audrey
(Garfield) Allen, Sackville; Barb Chambers, Moncton; Evelina Tower,
Sackville; Sherry Carter, Amherst; brothers, George (Linda) Hayward,
Moncton; Reg Hayward, ON; and Ellsworth (Vicky)
King, Jolicure; as well as many in-laws and extended family and
friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased
by his first wife, Audrey (Arsenault) and his second wife, Judy Lynn
(Ward), as well as his brother, Carmen Duncan.
Special thanks to all the staff at the
Drew Nursing Home Chignecto Unit for their dedication and
compassionate care. They are second to none.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 68
Bridge Street, Sackville, NB. A graveside service will be
held at the Westcock Cemetery at 11 am on Thursday, October 17, 2024,
with a time of fellowship to follow at St. Ann’s Anglican Church
Hall.
Donations in Raymond’s memory may be
made to the Drew Nursing Home or the Sackville Memorial Hospital
Auxiliary.
