After a short illness, it is with great
sadness that the family of Neil Carson
Allen, 77, of Cape Tormentine, known as the best dancer
in town, announce his passing, May 20th, 2024 at the Moncton
Hospital.
Born on November 6th, 1946, to Ray
& Olive in Cape Tormentine, NB, he is survived by his loving
wife of 51 years, Carolyn (Walton), married on October 21, 1972 and
their four children, Joey (Lana), Mathew (Onil), Christopher (Sarah),
and Rebecca (Chris), along with 8 grandchildren who he absolutely
adored Samuel, Maya, Parker, Oliver, Jacob, Clara, Max and
Evelyn. He is also survived by brothers Warren, and Boyd
(Thelma), brothers-in-law Rodney (Marilyn) & Ivan (Sue),
sisters-in-law, Lillian, Heather and Janet (Arden). As well
as dozens of nieces & nephews, and many great
friends.
You’d be challenged to find a
better neighbour, always willing to chip in and lend a hand. A
volunteer firefighter for over 20 years, Neil was also a church
treasurer (19 years), boy scout leader, and cheerleader & taxi
driver for years of chasing after his four ever-grateful children.
After 28 years working for Marine Atlantic, Neil went into a
retirement that kept him far busier than he ever expected.
Never one to slow down, Neil filled his
days enjoying several of his many hobbies including wood working,
gardening, wine-making, bowling, playing cards or simply puttering
about. He was happiest sharing a jive, or ten, with his
wife.
Neil was predeceased by his parents Ray
and Olive, along with siblings Marguerite (Sterling) Allen, Evelyn
(Milton) Goodwin, Billy and Danny, mother-in-law &
father-in-law Courtney & Clara Walton, as well as
brothers-in-law, Dewey Trenholm & Larry Walton, and
sister-in-law Cheryl Walton.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of Jones Funeral Home,
Sackville and Port Elgin. Visitation will be held from Jones
Funeral Home’s Port Elgin Chapel (3 West Main St.) on Thursday, May
23, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. His funeral service will
be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 11 am, William Drysdale, DLM
officiating.
Those wishing to make a donation in his
memory may do so to the CNIB or the charity of your
choice.
Sharing of condolences and memories may
be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial at
