Eileen Melanson of
Riverview passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27 at McNair
Manor where she was residing. She was a much-loved Mother to: Michael
(Karen), Diana (Bernie) and Cindy (Robert) Grandmother to: Crystal,
Melissa, Raymond (Vero), Stephanie (Mike), Chris (Nadia), John
(Gemini), Ashley (Sean), Matthew. Great-grandmother to: Tara, Chloe,
Sophia, Douglas, Vicky, Olivia.
Born in Canaan NS, she
was the daughter of the late Annie (nee Pugsley) and Carl Quinn. Gone
to join her loving husband, John Melanson to whom she was married for
66 years. She was also predeceased by son Michael, sisters, Muriel,
Olive, Marina and brother Arnold.
She will be dearly
missed by all no matter the title: mom, grammy, aunt, friend and best
of all Sweetie. She had a way of showering people with love
constantly, and no matter who you were, she made a place in her house
and her heart for love. All were treated as family, evidenced by the
many groups she participated in to help the community.
She was a teacher in
her early career, took some time to stay home and raise her family and
then began working for the government at D.S.S. Shediac. Even once she
retired, she was as busy as ever working for the community, often in
groups related to her Baptist Church. She had a great love of
knitting as witnessed by the many mittens worn by all the children in
the family. One of her favourite groups she attended was the Knit
Wits, where she worked with others to make items for children. Eileen
was a member of the Gunningsville Baptist Church and took great
pleasure in attending not only the services but many activities and
groups. Eileen loved her church and contributing to it with not only
her gift of knitting but also her cooking. She loved to shower people
with her food, whether it be an unexpected guest or someone in the
neighbourhood.
The family will be
receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and
Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Saturday,
January 4 from 4-6 PM. A service celebrating her life will take place
on Sunday, January 5 at 2 PM at Cobb’s funeral home with
Rev. Drew Mersereau presiding. Interment will take place at Fair Haven
Cemetery. We invite friends and family to join us and wear blue,
Eileen’s favourite colour. Donations to The
Friends of the Moncton Hospital would be appreciated by the
family.
