Connie McEwen
(Nickerson), of Riverview, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on
December 18, 2024, at McNair Manor, Riverview, New Brunswick. Born in
Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Merna (Leaman)
Nickerson.
She will be dearly
missed by her sons Scott Hicks (Glendine) of Prosser Brook, Shawn
Hicks of Halifax, and her daughter Sally Floyd of Ottawa; her four
grandchildren, Tyler, Nicholas, Liam, and Caeley, as well as her five
great-grandchildren; Tori, Hannah, Garrett, Emery, and Leah. She was
predeceased by her first husband, Murray Hicks, her second husband,
Charles McEwen, and her sisters; Joyce Patriquin (Edgar) of Amherst,
Betty Gaynes (Doug), and Caroline Nickerson.
Connie graduated from
the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. Early in
her career, she worked as a Registered Nurse in Alberta. She later
returned to Moncton to raise her family while working at The Moncton
Hospital in unit 5600 until her retirement.
Connie found joy in
the simplest of pleasures, especially time spent with her family. Her
pleasant personality and warmth were contagious to everyone she met.
She was an active member of the Moncton Wesleyan Church, where she
regularly volunteered, and also volunteered with the Moncton Hospital
Auxiliary. Throughout her life, Connie devoted herself to caring for
others, leaving a lasting impact on countless individuals with her
compassion, dedication, and selflessness.
A funeral service will
be held at Cobb’s Funeral Home, 330 Whitepine Rd. Riverview
(506-869-2007) at a later date in the spring of 2025. Donations in
Connie’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society
or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
