Obituary of Bernice Calder
It is with heavy hearts we announce, the peaceful passing of our mother, Bernice Calder, at her daughter’s home on Wednesday, May 8 at the young age of 106 years.
Born in Saint John, NB she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Hattie (Thorne) Godsoe. Bernice was the last surviving member of her family.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Luther Calder in 1983, brother Charles Everett in 1985, sister Aleta Martin 2017.
Survived by her son, Gerald Calder; daughter, Linda MacCallum; three grandsons, Greg (Shawna), Dale (Faith) and Cory (Tracy); six great grandchildren and one great great grand-daughter; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Extra Mural Nurses and to Dr. Heidi James who gave Mom such loving care.
Mom worked for CKCW Radio and ATV for 25 years, retiring at 65 years. In her younger years she enjoyed curling, playing cards, reading, shopping and especially time with her family, who meant the world to her.
At her request services will be private for the family and burial to follow at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre, 214 Pine Glen Rd., (506-857-9544) Riverview.
