Patricia Faye Hood
1936-2024
Our beloved mother, Patricia Faye (Knight) Hood, passed away at home
on October 26, 2024. Pat was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine on December
26, 1936. She was the daughter of Paul Knight and Geraldine
(Whiteneck) Knight. She graduated from Limestone High School and
attended Husson University in Bangor where she was studying for a
business degree. She left Husson when she married her first husband,
Philip Brown, and spent the next twenty years as an Air Force wife.
She made a home for her family at various U.S. Air Force bases around
the U.S. and Japan. When Phil and Pat returned to Maine in 1975, they
established a State Farm Insurance office in Caribou.
After Phil and Pat divorced, Pat met Robert Hood at a curling match in
Presque Isle. They married and moved to Harvey Station, NB. Pat
assisted Bob with his construction business and eventually opened her
own business, Pat’s Tax Services.
Pat was predeceased by her second husband Robert Hood, her parents and
her siblings Paula Harris, Carol Kelley, Louis Knight, Terry Knight,
and Ruth Knight. She is survived by her children: Paul Brown and his
wife Margo, Aislinn McKenney and her husband Thane Dawson, and Kenneth
Brown and his wife Elaine. She is survived by her grandchildren Daniel
Brown and his wife Alana, Eric Brown, and great-grandson Jackson.
Pat is survived by her siblings Bonnie Ketch and Marilyn Needham, her
first husband Philip Brown, Bob’s children Randy Hood, Danny
Hood, and Trent Hood; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends
on both sides of the border. She is also survived by her dear friends
Lena McDonough, Sandra Reid, and Tamara Teakles. She called Lena her
Canadian big sister. A special thank you to Lena, Sandra and Tamara
for making Pat part of your family and keeping an eye on her.
Over the years Pat was involved in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts with her
children. Later in life she was active in Eastern Star, Lioness Club,
and the Red Hat Society. She had a strong sense of community and while
she enjoyed travelling, she always looked forward to getting home to
Harvey to see her friends. Pat loved her family, her friends, her
children, and her grandchildren. She loved a party, telling stories,
genealogy, playing cards, traveling, and shopping. Pat was always up
for an adventure. Pat and her beloved friend Lena were inseparable and
had many adventures together. She will be missed by all who knew
her.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Sunday, November
24th from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Harvey Station Lions Club, 4722
Route 640. An Eastern Star tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. In
lieu of flowers donations could be made to the Canadian Cancer Society
or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
