Merle Cleveland Brewer
1932-2023
Surrounded by his loving wife and children, at the age of 91, God
called home his child Merle Cleveland Brewer on December 18, 2023.
Born in Zealand, NB on September 16, 1932 to the late Carney and
Myrtle Brewer.
Merle was with the DOT where he became known to many as the CAT man.
He operated a road grader for 37 years until his retirement.
Merle’s love for nature and the outdoors was instilled in all of
his children. He enjoyed gardening in the summer and plowing snow in
the winter.
Merle is survived by the love of his life of 72 years, Beryl (Estey)
Brewer along with his children Dwayne (Carolyn), Alvin (Audrey), Perry
(Cheryl), Desmond (Sharon), Tim (Marie), Bentley (Kim), Lyndon
(Gisele), Lisa (Mark), Sonya (John) and Ginette; along with
twenty-seven grandchildren, fifty-five great grandchildren and four
great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his three brothers
Otis (Betty), Elton (Darlene) and Stenton (Norma); several nieces,
nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a daughter Daphne Lee; a son Audwin; grandsons
Jodi and Waylon and great grandchildren Colby and Summer; his brothers
Winston (late Madeline), Laurison; sisters Vivian (late Irvine) and
Gretchen (late Russell). He was also predeceased by a brother-in-law
Keith Estey and sister-in-law Linda Brewer; his parents-in-law, Ronald
and Ida Estey.
Visiting hours will be held at Stone Ridge Pentecostal Church, 129
Upper Stone Ridge Road, Zealand, NB on Wednesday evening, December 20,
2023 from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday,
December 21, 2023 at 2 pm with Rev. Terrance Brewer officiating,
assisted by Rev. Dale Brewer. Interment at Stone Ridge Community
Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alvin, Tim, Bentley, Lyndon, Shane and Jerry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dwayne, Perry, Desmond, Lisa, Sonya,
Ginette and Floyd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stone Ridge
Pentecostal Church (Building Fund).
