Sister Monica Doyle, in religion Sister Paula Marie, f.j., of
Royal Court, Riverview, New Brunswick, passed away on March 7, 2024,
at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC in Moncton. Born in
Arichat, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late
Charles and Évangéline (Gagnon)
Doyle.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Blanche Doyle, as well
as many nieces, nephews, and members of her religious
family. She was the last surviving member of her immediate
family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one
sister, Margaret; and four brothers: Edward, Paul, Francis, and
Georges.
Monica dedicated herself in the field of education for nearly
25 years as a teacher or school principal. She also worked
in pastoral ministry and adult religious education in Nova Scotia and
in New Brunswick. Journeying with others was a personal
enrichment and a challenge for her and she was always grateful to the
Lord for his call and his faithfulness. In 1970, Monica
served as Provincial councillor and after a year of studies she was
named Provincial Superior. At the age of 62, she answered a
call to go out on mission to Jamaica, West Indies, where she worked in
pastoral ministry for 10 years. Monica was an intelligent
and serious woman, who was very interested in what went on in
society. She was also a woman of character and
decision.
Visitation will be held at Frenette Funeral and Cremation
Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900), on Tuesday March
12th, from 9 to 10 am. A celebration of the Word will follow
at 10 am at the funeral centre. The funeral service

Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery in Dieppe.
