Sheila Cochrane Obituary
Sheila was born in Campbellton, NB March 1943 to her parents Edith Nelson Cochrane and Aubrey McLean Cochrane.
Sheila is survived by brothers David (late Shannon), Kenneth (Carmelle), Barry, William (Bonnie), Nancy Richard (late Leo Paul), Cathy Doiron (late Yvon) and Sally. Predeceased by two infant sisters and by brother Darrell and sister Helen.
Upon graduation in 1961 from CHS High School, she gained employment with the insurance adjusters’ firm of Adjusters & Appraisers Ltd.
Sheila grew up in the shadows of the Salvation Army and was a regular and active member of the church. In 1971 she joined the Army and was ordained as a minister and was posted to Calgary for a number of years.
Eventually, she found it necessary to relocate and was successful in obtaining a position in Toronto with the Commercial Union Assurance Company as a clerk typist. In short order she was relocated into the executive offices becoming the typist for the President and his key staff.
At age 55 she was having health issues and the management offered her an early retirement package which she accepted.
Before too long she found herself living in Moncton and becoming close to her sisters and brothers and a grand niece.
Around 2019 she, due to her health issues joined the gathering at the Golden Years Special Care Home. She loved being there and was treated like a queen. However; her further decline made it necessary to relocate to McNair Manor. That was a godsend as she was treated like royalty and had a delightful number of years. Being at this location made it possible for family to visit frequently and to her delight.
Recently she had a terrible fall and broke her ankle and injured her knee causing her terrible pain. Once in hospital it was or became apparent that she would not walk again.
Her last days were ones in which all can be proud of how she received attention from family and the loving care of the McNair staff members and the staff of floor 4400 at the city hospital.
May she rest in the comfort of her Lord and Saviour now having reached her goal in life.
Arrangements in the care of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd. Moncton, NB (506-858-1995). Online condolences for the family can be shared at
