Russell (Sonny) Joseph Delhunty Jr.
Russell (Sonny) Delhunty Jr., of Moncton passed away surrounded by family on Friday, March 28, 2024. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Russell and Salome (Arsenault) Delhunty. Sonny retired from Day and Ross Ltd. as a driver with 20 years of service. He attended St. Augustin’s Catholic Church.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna (Bernard) Delhunty, sons Len (Sue), Gerald (Dani) and Scott (Stacy), grandchildren Amy (Jan), Josh, Riley (Brianna), Braden, Rylan, Jasmine and André; great grandchildren, Kira, Connor, Jessie, Mason and Benjamin; sister Doreen Babineau and brother Gil (Stella) Delhunty.
Aside from his parents, Sonny was predeceased by a daughter in law Diane Delhunty (1989) and sisters Dorilla, Emerise and Ella May.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Moncton Hospital and K. E. Spencer Memorial Home “Birchwood Wing” for the tremendous and loving care given to Russell “Sonny” during his time there.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Rd. Moncton NB (506-858-1995) on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Visiting hours will be Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Interment, Adamsville Parish Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, Canadian Cancer Society or a memorial of the donors choice.
