M. Myrtle Grant Obituary
Too weary to go on, yet Mary Myrtle Grant, at the age of 91, welcomed the call to move along. She passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Moncton Hospital following a period of declining health. Formerly of Moore Street, Moncton, Myrtle was born in Southampton (Nackawic), N.B., to the late Guy and Daisy (Howland) Davidson.
Married to the late Neil V. Grant in 1949, they lived in Temple, N.B. until 1962, when Neil was transferred to the Moncton CNR. Myrtle was a Registered Cardiology Technician and Ward Clerk at the Moncton Hospital, with 25 years service. After retiring in 1986, she enjoyed piecing and quilting many quilts, baked countless dozens of cookies and muffins to share with friends, and knitted too many pairs of cozy slippers to count. Generous with her time, Myrtle always enjoyed visits and phone calls from her family and numerous friends. She was a member of Parkside Baptist Church since 1964.
Myrtle is predeceased by her husband, Neil V. Grant (1998), by her brother, Harold (2003), and by two half-brothers, Roy (1972) and William (2001). She is also predeceased by her cousin Vernon Howland, and his wife, Grace. Myrtle is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her dear niece, Betty Grant (Wilfred), and by her cousin, Rosalie Jones (David). She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Loverine Davidson, by several nieces and nephews, and by numerous friends, especially Martha Wry (late David).
A sincere thank you to Dr. Pamela Vardy, Dr. Marie-Helene Thibeault, and Dr. Kathy Reviczky, and especially to Trinda for all of their compassionate care and service over the years. Thank you, also, to the staff at Golden Years Estate and at Moncton Residence.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd, Moncton, will be held just prior to the 11:00 a.m. service in the Chapel on Thursday, April 11, 2024. Burial will be at Hillman/Ritchie Cemetery in Temple, N.B., at a later date. No flowers please, but being a great lover of dogs, donations to the Moncton SPCA (PAW) would certainly please her very much.
