Lea Briggs Obituary
Lea Warren Briggs, 77, of Steeves Mountain, passed away on December 1, 2023 at The Moncton Hospital. Lea passed away suddenly from an aneurysm.
He was born on January 18, 1946 to the late Clarence and Ivena Briggs of Stilesville.
Lea began his long career straight out of high school. His jobs ranged from farm machinery salesman, heavy equipment operator, snow plow driver, to farmer and maple producer. Lea was involved with the NB Maple Syrup Association for many years, most recently as their director. He was also a dedicated volunteer of the local Stilesville Church and within the community.
Lea split his time between his small farm in Steeves Mountain and his maple camp in New Ireland. Despite being busy with both, he found time to have a big garden, travel, and spend time with family and friends.
Lea is survived by his wife, Vi Briggs; sons, David Briggs (Sherry) and Jason Briggs (Trudy Meade), stepson, Greg Wilson (Bryan); stepdaughters, Kim Campbell (Dave) and Tracey Douglas (Ian); grandchildren, Kristy, Kyle, Megan, Bradley, Ashley, Mitchell, Daniel and Sara.
In addition to his parents, Clarence and Ivena, he was predeceased by his grandsons, Christopher Warren Briggs and Craig Moores.
There will be no visitation hours by personal request.
A Service to Celebrate and Honour Lea’s life will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 2:00 pm from Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995). A reception will follow in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. A private family burial will take place at Stilesville Cemetery at a later date.
