John C. Hicks Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Hicks, 83, of Salisbury, NB after succumbing to complications from a stroke on August 2, 2024.
Finishing school with only a grade 8 education, he proved to go on to be a successful entrepreneur, starting his own salvage yard known as “Hick’s Auto Salvage” in his late teens which he operated for many years, before moving on to start a heavy truck and equipment business. Thinking of slowing down he went on to begin a very successful real estate career, winning multiple awards for top salesman over the years for the many companies he worked for. He always enjoyed wheeling and dealing, once he left real estate, he went back to buying and selling cars for some years, then when he decided to actually retire, he continued to work with bicycles up until the day he took ill. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, and enjoyed hosting many events. Over the years he travelled often.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Edna (nee Berry) Hicks; sons, Timothy Hicks (Brenda) and David Hicks (Karen); grandchildren, Rebecca, Erika, Matthew, Brandon and Sean; great grandson, Kaleb; and brother, Robert Hicks (Heather); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In keeping with John’s wishes there will be no visitation hours or funeral service. Interment will take place at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
