Jason Remeikis Obituary
With tremendous sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Jason Remeikis, who left us on April 26, 2024.
Jason is the loving son of Bonita Laking (May, 2024) and Robert Laking. Adoring brother of Vanessa (Laking) Poxleitner (Gary). Cherished uncle to Josiah, Rebekah, and Jonah Poxleitner. Father of Alexis Anderson.
Jason’s love for Alexis was evident to all those who knew him, and we trust that she carries with her the knowledge of how deeply her father loved and cared for her. Though they were apart, she was always near in his thoughts.
Jason’s love for his Little Rocket Sue, (Vanessa) was truly remarkable. He always spoke of her with fondness, admiration and pride. Their precious bond was one of unwavering support and affection. Whether they were sharing laugher, offering advice, or simply spending time together, Jason cherished every moment with his little sister, whom he nicknamed “Little Sue”. Their relationship was a testament to the strength of family ties and the deep connection they shared. Jason’s love for her was evident in how he supported her in every endeavor, and celebrated her successes as if they were his own. His devotion to Vanessa was a cornerstone of his life, and his memory will forever be intertwined with the love he had for his dear sister, Little Sue.
Robert and Bonita loved and cherished their son. Truly with unconditional love which played a pivotal role in Jason’s life, offering unwavering support, wisdom, and care. Robert stepped into Jason’s life with open arms, becoming a steadfast presence and a source of strength. Robert and Bonita’s influence helped shape Jason into the hardworking, kind-hearted man we all knew and loved.
Jason’s support and affection for his nephews, Josiah and Jonah (whom he fondly called Super Big), and his niece Rebekah (nicknamed Rasputin), were truly remarkable. He encouraged them and took immense pride in all their endeavors and accomplishments. He delighted in sharing their achievements as they grew up.
Born in Sudbury, ON, Jason made many lifelong friends, who know him as “Jay Rock”. His passion for cars, led him to purchase his dream car, a 2015 corvette Z06 650 horse power super charger.
He put his heart into everything that he did. He had an attitude of excellence. He was often quoted as saying, “I always give 100%, otherwise what’s the point”. He worked many years in the mining industry as a Drill Blast Supervisor holding many certificates and awards which celebrated his achievements. When his employers needed him, he always went the extra mile showing in excellence and with humour. Creating unique nicknames for everyone on site. He expected dedication and hard work from his crew and encouraged them with praise. He had such a great sense of humour, always making people laugh and have fun. He was often found serenading the people at work and joking with them with his great sense of humour, which brought joy and laughter to the workplace. He cared deeply for the people he worked with and his responsibilities and keeping them safe. He tremendously improved the workplace with cost saving and innovation. He received a Special Honour of Excellence and teamwork from his company. He also received a letter from the president of one company thanking him and honouring all his contributions.
Jason’s time with us was too short, but his love of family and friends and care for those around him ran deep from his soul. Jason brought passion into everything that he did. He had a lightning-quick humour and a much loved deep laugh that was contagious to all those around him. Most of all, Jason will be remembered for the deep love that he had for his family and friends. He leaves behind a large loyal circle of friends and family that care and love him deeply. He will be deeply, deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 10:30 am at All Nations Church, 414 St Raphael St, Sudbury, Ontario.
