It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Virginia “Mike” Melanson, 86, on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Serenacare Home in Moncton.
Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Frank and the late Florence Young (LeBlanc).
Virginia will be sadly missed by her daughter, Alana Melanson (Roger) of Ottawa, ON; her two sons: Thane Melanson (Darlene) of Cape Breton Island and Daniel Melanson (Natalie) of Ottawa, ON; three grandchildren: Rhyanna, Rhys, and Pierce; two brothers: David Young (Anne) and Michael Young (Danielle) both of the Shediac area; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ubald “Uby”; her brother, Frank Young; and her sister, Margaret Ellen Fraser.
After graduating from the Halifax Infirmary School of Nursing, she worked at the George Dumont Hospital and finished her career working together with her husband in various family enterprises.
She cherished her weekly bridge games with the girls, and enjoyed the sun while reading a good book at Parlee Beach and Indian Shores Beach FL. But more importantly, Mike loved spending time with friends and family.
In respect to the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer.
