‘Courageous, determined, loving, caring, resilient, considerate, encouraging, sincere’
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sally Ann Dawson (nee Donovan), 64, of Moncton, N.B. on September 18, 2024. Born in Moncton, N.B. to “Tina” Argentine (nee Chiasson) Donovan and late “Al” Alphonsus Donovan, Sally was, and always will be, a fully loved and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Sally was married for 42 years to her childhood sweetheart, Brennan. Together, they raised four children to be independent and thoughtful adults. As a grandmother, she held her proudest joys in her grandchildren; she will always be Nanny, and they will continue to know their loving grandmother through their parents, aunts and uncles. Sally was the caregiver and babysitter to many now-grown children who were raised with her own, these many children who saw her as a second mother.
Always with a lightness and determination, Sally was resilience embodied in person. In her youth she was adventurous, enjoying majorettes, cadets, true friendships and weekend camping trips to PEI; in her motherhood she was always the one who cheered you on, who was present in all you did, who cared and shared with full attention and continued the camping outings to PEI with her family and often many of their friends. At the Dawson backyard pool, it was the meeting place for every friend of her four children and extended family, often accompanied by Sally’s batches of peanut butter or chocolate chip cookies. As a grandmother, Sally was ever joyful around them, seeing these littles growing into their own personalities.
Sally was preceded by her lifelong love and husband, Brennan; her father, Al; her sister, Janice; and her brother, Stephen.
Sally is survived by her children: Ryan Dawson, Nicholas Dawson, Melissa (Justin) Cormier, and Samantha (Jesse) Melvin; her grandchildren Myah, Maycii, Nash and Kinsley; her mother , Tina Donovan; her sister, Jill Donovan (Dan Ross); her brother-in-law, Brian (Karen) Dawson; her mother-in-law, “Tilly” Matilda Dawson; and missed by several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephew. All will continue Sally’s legacy in their hearts.
A special thank you goes the caring staff of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre and the Oncology Department.
At Sally’s request, a private graveside service will be held for her family and close friends where she will be put to rest with her soulmate, Brennan. One other request of Sally was to be remembered in continued stories, heartful and full of laughter, for this is how she continues in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory pf Sally can be made to the Oncology of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.
