It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother, Michael “Mike” Charles Connell on Thursday, March 14, 2024, age 71, at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home in Moncton.
Mike was well liked by the staff and residents at Spencer’s. He always had a smile on his face and loved to make others laugh. He enjoyed travelling around to visit other wings at Spencer’s, playing cards and showing people his musical Christmas gifts and pictures of his trips with his sister, Carolyn. Mike was a bright light in this world, with an adventurous spirit and a positive attitude. He lived in the moment and brought joy to all who knew him. We will miss him deeply.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Gerald and Marie Connell (Fraser). Mike is survived by his two children: Jennifer Connell of Clairville and Corey Connell of Moncton; his grandchildren: Jacob and Jessica; his siblings: Catherine Leger (Ray) of Fredericton, Maureen Edgar of Bouctouche, Bill Connell (Gail) of Moncton, Dorothy Zirpolo (John) of Birch Ridge, Geraldine “Gerry” Boulay (Georges) of Moncton, Mary Connell of Lunenburg, NS, Carolyn Chase (Brian) of Kingston, NS; also by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Thank you to Jeff Carter and his staff for providing Mike a good place to live for over 20 years. Special thanks to Jeff for his continued support and visits throughout the years.
Thank you to Julie Mundle and her staff at Sunset Village. Mike with his irresistible charm and wit gave them a reason to smile when he came wheeling down the hallway to see them each day.
We wish to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Spencer’s Memorial Home. Our family was deeply touched with the compassion and respect that they showed Mike throughout his stay there, especially during his final days.
As per request, there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held at Passage Funeral Chapel, 625 Mountain Road, Moncton, NB (506) 855-1145, on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 3pm. A gathering will follow with a light lunch and refreshments.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Spencer Home Foundation.
