Hector Melanson, 97 formerly of Moncton Residence, passed away peacefully, on March 2nd, 2024, at the Moncton City Hospital after a brief illness.
Hector was born March 3, 1926 in Scotch Settlement, NB to the late William and Clara (Leger) Melanson.
He spent most of his working years in Labrador and Saint John, NB returning to Moncton to retire.
Hector was a quiet man who loved animals, walking, crossword puzzles and watching baseball especially the Blue Jays.
He is survived by his sisters: Jean Donovan (late Bill) of St-Thomas-de-Kent and Georgina Donovan (late Edward) of Moncton Residence, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen (Kay) Melanson (Edwards) and his siblings: Irene Robichaud (Tom), Corrine LeBlanc (Edgar), Eric Melanson (Flora Richard), Zoe Melanson, Anita (Nita) Babineau (Alyre), Frank Melanson, Ernest Melanson (Corrine Gallant) and William (Billy) Melanson Jr.
At his request, there will be no funeral with burial at St-Lawrence-O’Toole Cemetery, Irishtown, NB in the spring.
