Moncton, NB – It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Émerise Girouard on Saturday March 9, 2024, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center in Moncton, at the age 87 years old. She was surrounded by family during her departure to Heaven.
Born in Haut de Saint-Antoine de Kent, she was the daughter of the late Edmond Léger and the late Exelda (LeBlanc) Léger.
Émerise was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother exceptionally dedicated to the well-being of others. The relationship with her husband Fernand and her children was admired by everyone. Her kindness was not limited to her own family. Her gentleness and complicity touched many people. The multitude of friendships that she was able to maintain until her death are proof of her kindness and compassion for others.
Émerise is survived by her husband of 63 years, Fernand Girouard, a brother, Yvon (Hermine) Léger of Leominster, Mass; three children: Gisèle (Henri) Nowlan, Jacqueline (Louis Léger) Girouard and Daniel (Michelle) Girouard. Her life was filled with 6 grandchildren: Sylvain (Sam Stratton) Nowlan, Alain (Noémie Michaud) Nowlan, Philippe (Teagan Anderson-Léger) Léger, Éric (Carolina Feican) Léger, Madeleine (Austin Steeves) Léger and Simon Léger, as well as 4 great-grandchildren: Ève, Maxim, Orrin and Lionel.
Visitations will take place at the Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel Funeral Salon, Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, on Friday, March 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at the Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent.
