It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eloi Léger, 98, on Sunday, April 7th, 2024, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton.
Born in Grande-Digue, he was the son of the late Phélias and the late Eva Léger (Léger).
Eloi will be sadly missed by his wife, Elizabeth Williams-Léger; his sons: Fernand Léger (Linda) and Donald Léger, both of Cocagne Cape; his granddaughter, Monique; two grandchildren; his stepchildren: Diane Williams-LeBlanc, Thérèse Williams, Claude Williams, and Léandre Williams all of Saint-Philippe; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Rosalie Bourque; his daughter, Charline; his sister, Juliette; his brothers: Roméo, Ulysse, and Euclide; his son-in-law, Pete Gaudet; and daughter-in-law, Denise Leger; his stepson, John Williams; as well as his stepdaughter, Alice Ibbitson.
Eloi worked at lobster shops for 45 years. He had also walked from his home all the way to Fredericton for a job opportunity. Anybody who had the good fortune of crossing him would automatically adore him, as he was a lovable, very kind, and gentle man, who would have done anything to help anyone in need. He loved animals and was known for being a jokester. He was also known for taking such good care of his car, some would say you would be able to eat off its floors. Eloi had an exceptional memory and would remember everything from many years ago.
Visitations will be held at Passage (3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge) on Friday, April 12th, 2024, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 4:00pm.
Donations in memory of Eloi can be made to a charity of your choice.
