Harry “Tut” Gorber Obituary
Harry “Tut” Gorber, 92, of Monarch Hall, Riverview, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Morris and Elizabeth (Coleman) Gorber.
Harry lived in Moncton his entire life and worked in the family business, Morris Gorber & Sons Ltd, as a Livestock dealer. He was an active member of the Tiferes Israel Synagogue, holding various positions within the Synagogue over the years. Harry was recognized for his long service to his local, national and Israeli communities in 2012 and was awarded the Atlantic Jewish Council Community Service Award.
Harry was always welcoming to everyone. He opened his home in 2001 to a family whose plane had been stranded in Moncton due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks and remained friends with the couple for years after. Harry enjoyed family gatherings and was a devoted father to his son Lorne.
Tut will be missed by his brother Herby Gorber, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Ann (Parelman) (2021); son Lorne Gorber (2024); sisters Helen Jochelman (Hyman) and Isabel Rose (Ezra); and brothers Charlie (Esther), Sam (Lorna) and William Gorber.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 1:00 pm from Tiferes Israel Synagogue. Interment will follow in Tiferes Israel Cemetery, Dieppe. Shiva Services will be held at Monarch Hall.
