Gloria Wilson Obituary
Gloria Wilson, 83, of Moncton passed away peacefully with her family at her side at The Dr. Georges L.
Dumont University Hospital Centre on Monday, December 18, 2023. It would be wrong to say that Gloria
lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always strong
and determined. When others would have broken, Gloria stayed strong. Through her, we know what
resilience and perseverance truly look like. And what the power of love can really do.
Born in Campbellton, she was the daughter of Alonzo and Clara (Boudreau) Johnson. Gloria loved
Glencoe and her childhood home and the beautiful countryside where she used to run and play. She
stayed connected to her roots and visited Glencoe and her sister countless times throughout the years.
She moved to Moncton, NB when she was 17 to start a job and that was when she met her husband
Arthur. Sparks flew and they were happily married. Gloria considered her greatest accomplishment to be
raising her 3 children. Being a Mother, then a grandmother and great-grandmother were the most
rewarding roles of her life. She loved cooking delicious meals and baking for her husband Arthur and she
was never happier than when the house was full and all the family was all there, eating and celebrating.
She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children and prided herself on being
an exceptional wife and Mother. She cared so deeply for all her family and gave us all many pep talks and
advice throughout the years. She always provided love and support for all her children and was so proud
of each one of us. She never let us down. She was always there for us.
Gloria was well-loved and had many friends. She had a great love of books and reading and writing. She
enjoyed working at Coles Bookstore when her children had grown and she wrote many poems and
stories with her vivid imagination. She also was a fantastic piano player since childhood and used to sing
and play the piano for her friends and family throughout her life. She was so wise and beautiful and has
taught us so much for us to succeed in our own lives.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 63 years Arthur Wilson, children Gayle Gillcash (David), Mark Wilson
(Wendy) and Sherrie Wilson (Robbie), grandchildren Corey Gillcash (Heather) and Susan Gillcash (Pierre),
great grandson Thomas Gillcash- LaPlante; a loving sister Sheila Malcolm and brothers Wayne Johnson
and Wade Johnson.
Aside from her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her brother Jerry Johnson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd. Moncton NB
(506-858-1995).
A Private family interment was held at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
