Elizabeth Deware Obituary
On July 4, 2024, at her cottage on the bluff in Shediac, a place she called her spiritual home for more than 50 years, our beautiful and feisty mother died peacefully with her loving sons at her side.
Elizabeth was born in Moncton and was the daughter of the late Abner and Jessica (Gaynor) Harrison and grew up in chaotic household with 12 siblings that she adored (mostly). It was on a train trip, at the age of 15, she caught the attention of our father, Douglas DeWare (1940-2022) and within five years she left that topsy-turvy household behind her by marrying him.
Our mother had an infectious love of life and her perfectly manicured nails were seldom seen without a novel, a gin or Chardonnay, and for decades a Cameo Menthol cigarette (she only ever regretted this last vice because it contributed to her death).
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Heather Savoie (Claude), Michael DeWare (Diane) and Scott DeWare (Scott); grandchildren Mitch, Rebecca, Megan, Stephanie, Danielle, a great-grandson John and her youngest sister Sandra Harrison.
As per her instructions and wishes, there will be no funeral and a celebration cocktail party at the bluff that will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd. Moncton NB (506-858-1995). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.
