Diane McLaughlin, age 79, of Moncton, passed away peacefully
on Thursday July 25, 2024, at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Moncton,
she was the daughter of the late Russell (Bob) and Isola
(Léger) McLaughlin.
Diane McLaughlin was a published freelance writer and
award-winning poet whose work has appeared in many newspapers and
magazines; she also was an author of several books during her
lifetime. Her passion for writing was based on her life challenges and
personal achievements of overcoming, making her an advocate for social
justice and domestic violence. Diane was notorious for opening her
home to share her home-cooked meals, giving charity to everyone from
all walks of life. She was ambitious to remind everyone that it is
never too late to start anew – to start again no matter where
you’ve been or what you have done…today is the
day for new beginnings.
Diane held her children close to her heart with endless love
and support; she was a blessed grandmother and great-grandmother.
Diane always put in a good word to her Lord Jesus for her many family
members and friends. She was greatly loved and will be greatly
missed.
She is survived by six children: Michael of Ontario, Peter
(Marianne) of Ottawa, ON, Pamela of Montréal, QC, Sandra
(Meghan) of Moncton, Gary (Megan) of Calgary, AB, and Marco
(Becky-Sue) of Dorchester; one sister, Faye (Charlie) of Dieppe; one
brother, Ricky (Diane) of Moncton; seven grandchildren: Joshua,
Isaiah, Sarah, Mayze, Myrah, Jacob, and Kayla; one
great-granddaughter, Alice, as well as many nieces and
nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother,
Danny, and two granddaughters, Amanda and Kristyn.
Diane’s family would like to thank the doctors,
nurses and medical staff of The Moncton Hospital trauma, oncology and
palliative care units.
In accordance with Diane’s wishes, there will be no
visitation or religious service. A private Celebration of Life is
planned, after which interment will take place in Our Lady of Calvary
Cemetery in Dieppe. In memory of Diane, a contribution to Victims of
Domestic Violence or the Crossroads for Women
(www.crossroadsforwomen.ca) would be appreciated.
