Daryl Fillmore Obituary
Daryl Fillmore, 67 of Mundleville and formerly of Clairville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent. Born in Rexton, he was the son of the late Alfred and Althea (Brown) Fillmore.
The road continually called Daryl’s name and he drove 18-wheelers from the time he left Richibucto Senior High School. He enjoyed the people he worked with at DOT in Harcourt and at Hannay’s Auto Sales in Rexton but the life of a truck driver ran freely through his veins, he took great pride in his rigs which ran the roads from BC to NL from Louisiana to California to Ohio. Although he was often lonesome on the roads, music was his go to – rock & roll or country tunes, whatever was needed at the time. Then he would share his songs with us back home – kinda brought us together, no matter the distance. Daryl’s miles on the road made his time at home that much sweeter. Gardening – whether flowers or veggies was a past-time that Daryl seriously enjoyed and he rocked it! Everything had a place and was in place at Daryl & Rosie’s except for hens and dogs and grandchildren! They gave Daryl so much enjoyment and he treated them like royalty.
Daryl’s smile put everyone at ease, and the dozen eggs you got when you left their place would warm your heart. The past year Daryl’s main wheels sported a special licence plate – ‘Samsvan’. Sam shadowed Daryl’s every move – his constant companion – a man and his dog.
Daryl is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rose-Ella (Martin) Fillmore; Children Luc (Natalie) Fillmore of Clairville, Hollie (Jason) Mazerolle of Rexton, Adam (Melissa) Fillmore of Coates Mills; 8 grandchildren, Brier, Wyatt Mazerolle, Kallie, Madie, Scottie, Libby, Ella & Kassey Fillmore; sister Connie Agnew (late Ross) of Jardineville; brothers, Allan (Audrey) of Mundleville, Donnie (Marie) of Clairville and Neil (Lisa) of Dieppe; sisters-in-law: Laura (Gerald) Richibucto, Nicole (Rony) Aldouane, Bernice (Chuck) Ford Mills; brother-in-laws Rene (Calvin) of Moncton, Stephane (Tammy) of Richibucto, David of Rexton, and many nieces and nephews.
Aside from his parents, Daryl was predeceased by his sister Darlene, brothers-in-law: Neri, Ronald and sister-in-law Jeanne-Eva, mother-in-law, Bernadette and father-in-law, Calixte.
