We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Leon Charles Bremner, husband of Carolyn (Wallace) Bremner, of Napan, New Brunswick, who passed away peacefully at his home on October 13th, 2023, at the age of 83.
Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, on August 19th, 1940, Leon Charles Bremner was the son of both the late James and Jennie (Williston) Bremner.
Leon was born a Napan farmer’s son, and had an affinity for tractors his entire life, especially those manufactured by Ford New Holland. He was an Entrepreneur, and owned Bremner Farms in Napan, New Brunswick for over 35 years on the very land on which he was raised. He started working at W.S. Sales of tractors, and industrial farming equipment would become his life. In later years, he enjoyed work at Good Earth Peat Moss Plant in Escuminac. Wherever Leon worked, and whoever he met, they usually became life-long friends.
Leon was a community man, and believed in buying local and helping the local community. He was a supporter of many of the community’s sporting teams and events, such as the Miramichi White Caps, numerous local baseball teams, and the Napan Agricultural Show to name a few. He was also a past-President of the NBCC-Miramichi Campus, past-President of the Miramichi Hospital Foundation, past-President of the Highland Society of Miramichi, and was also a proud supporter of the Josie Foundation. He also served on the NB Energy and Utility Board for NB Power. He was past-Chairman of the Board of the Miramichi Senior Citizen’s Home and remained very active in its functioning until its closure. He was also a member of the Miramichi Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Carmel United Church, Napan, regularly attending church on Sundays when he was able and supporting church events whenever he could. Leon was involved with many other organizations and events that have occurred in and around the Miramichi. He was truly passionate about supporting the local community and those within it. Leon was a proud Napaner! The family is so proud of Leon for being so involved within his community.
Leon is survived by his wife, Carolyn, and his two sons, Garnet Bremner (Tania) of Chicago, USA, and Todd Bremner (Kelly) of Moncton, NB; step-daughter, Angela Ball of Calgary, AB; siblings: Norman Bremner (Joyce) of Moncton, Bruce Bremner of Dalhousie Junction, Judy Donnelly of Miramichi, and Margaret McNelly (Glenn) of Maine, USA; grandchildren: Nicole and Christopher Bremner, and Gage Bremner; and step-grandchildren, Connor Jimmo, and Owen and Cian Ball, and Jonathan Wallace; as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and the mother of his children (Garnet and Todd), Marie MacDonald.
